The Sustainable Screen Training programme is about two things.
The first is lifting sustainability best practice across our industry through training. The second is supporting our local sector to work with sustainability managers, so productions here at home can draw on skilled people who know how to lead this work well.
Here is how that comes together.
Training the sustainability managers
At the core of the programme is hands on training for sustainability managers, the people who carry this work day to day on a production.
They will build practical skills in carbon measurement, planning, supplier engagement and reporting, all grounded in the tools and frameworks already in use across Aotearoa. This will cement best practice among current sustainability managers and allow new people to step onto productions with the confidence to support everyone on their sustainability journey.
Bringing producers alongside
Sustainability managers do their best work when the wider production understands and backs them.
Alongside the sustainability manager training we will have some targeted workshops for producers to learn how to best work with sustainability managers. This will cover timelines, budget and savings opportunities and what the sustainability manager will need to succeed.
Pilot placements
We will also be supporting local productions with funded placements of our trained sustainability managers. This is a key step in our industry’s development towards fully embedding sustainable practice.
