When the team behind Mum, I’m Alien Pregnant set out to make an independent sci-fi body-horror comedy in Aotearoa, they made a decision early on: sustainability wouldn’t be an afterthought. A sustainability manager was brought on during development to embed sustainability practices from the get go.
That early commitment made a real difference, and the team’s efforts have been recognised with a nomination at the Global Production Awards. We’re sharing this report because we believe the learnings are useful for other productions in Aotearoa — what worked, what was harder than expected, and what the team would do differently next time.
